Parks & trails

4 listed
  • Penn Yan
    Keuka Outlet Trail
    Editor's pick

Seven miles of multi-use trail from Penn Yan to Dresden, following the outlet stream that carries Keuka into Seneca. Waterfalls, mill ruins, and the old Fall Brook rail alignment. Easy for bikes end to end; the shady middle mile past the falls is the section to walk. Dogs on leash.

  • Penn Yan
    Indian Pines Park

Village lakefront park at the north end — swim area, picnic tables, tree cover, and a shoreline path good for the pre-dinner walk. Free parking, seasonal restrooms. The easiest north-end lake access without a boat.

  • Hammondsport
    Depot Park
    Editor's pick

The south-end village waterfront park at the tip of Keuka — floating dock, swim area, seasonal concert lawn, and the departure point for the Pat II tour boat. Walk to Hammondsport Square from here in three minutes. Bring the kids for the Thursday-night summer concert series.

  • Bluff Point
    Keuka Lake State Park
    Editor's pick

621 acres on the west arm at Bluff Point — swim beach, campground, picnic pavilions, playground, nature trails, and a paved boat launch with pump-out. The largest public lake-access complex on Keuka. Reserve campsites through NY State Parks well before Memorial Day; the loop fills first.

  • Penn Yan
    Penn Yan Village Boat Launch

The municipal paved boat launch and dock at the very north end of Keuka. Trailer parking, restrooms, and easy access from Route 54. Free launch, seasonal fee for slips. Fills on Saturday mornings in July; be there before 8 a.m.

  • Penn Yan

  • Hammondsport
    Hammondsport Village Marina

The south-end village marina adjacent to Depot Park — used by tour operators and visiting boaters. Public slips are limited; call the village office. Good staging point for a day on the south basin, and the shortest walk to Hammondsport Square.

  • Hammondsport
    Boathouse Keuka
    Editor's pick

Marina and boat-rental operation at 35 West Lake Road on the south-west arm — pontoons, ski boats, and slip rentals. Booking online for summer weekends fills two weeks out. Bring an insurance card; they check.

  • Hammondsport
    Jake's Boat Livery

West-side livery on Route 54A with pontoon, ski, and fishing boat rentals — fuel dock, mini-mart, ice, and bait. The all-in-one south-end stop for a rental day. Reserve a pontoon by the Wednesday before if you want a Saturday.

  • Hammondsport
Pat II Keuka Lake Tour Boat
    Editor's pick

The narrated Keuka Lake tour boat that runs from Depot Park — one-hour lake cruises, some sunset departures, and private-charter options. The classic first-timer's move for the south-end afternoon. Buy tickets an hour ahead in season.

  • Hammondsport
ON KEUKA Private Boat Tours & Charters

Private charters and water-taxi service out of Hammondsport village docks — bring your own food and drink, stop at boat-up docks for dinner, cottage pickup available. Good for parties of six to twelve. Book at least a week ahead in summer.

  • Hammondsport
    Keuka Boat Rentals

South-end rental fleet — day, weekend, and weekly bookings with launch at Hammondsport. Runabouts and pontoons, straightforward booking, deposit taken at pickup. Reserve a pontoon for a summer holiday-weekend Saturday by early June.

  • Hammondsport
    Keuka Watersports

Hammondsport boat-rental shop with pontoon and ski-boat rentals plus watersports gear. Life-jacket sizes for kids in stock. Call for after-6 returns on hot summer evenings; they're flexible if the wind's dropped.

  • Penn Yan
    Seager Marine Rentals — Keuka

East-side marina at 6508 East Bluff Drive — rentals, fuel dock, and marine service. Convenient starting point for the east-arm tour, and one of the few gas docks on the lake. Watch the wind advisories from the east-bluff exit in October.

  • Penn Yan
    Shoreline Rentals

Penn Yan outfitter on Liberty Street near the Keuka Outlet Trail — kayaks, paddleboards, bikes, and e-bikes. Hourly and half-day rates. Reserve an e-bike two days out on summer weekends; the trail run to Dresden is the reason people book them.

  • Penn Yan
    East Bluff Harbor Marina

East-side marina on East Bluff Drive with slips and services for boaters — quieter than the village municipal marina, and a shorter run to the east arm. Seasonal slips only, waitlist in summer.

  • Penn Yan
    Morgan Marine

Penn Yan marine service center — winter storage, boat sales, and shrink-wrapping. The name locals give when you ask where to service a boat on Keuka. Book fall haul-out slots by mid-September; the yard fills fast after Labor Day.

Iconic stops

3 listed
  • Hammondsport
    Glenn H. Curtiss Museum
    Editor's pick

Hammondsport's museum of aviation and motorcycle pioneer Glenn H. Curtiss — vintage aircraft, motorcycles, and early-flight artifacts from the town where American aviation grew up. The classroom-quiet counterpoint to the wine trail. Two hours is enough; the flying-replica shop in back is the surprise.

  • Hammondsport
    Finger Lakes Boating Museum
    Editor's pick

Regional boating museum on the Hammondsport waterfront — antique wooden runabouts, canoes, and Finger Lakes boat-building history in the old winery buildings. Free admission, donation encouraged. A rainy-day pair with the Curtiss Museum across town.

  • Bluff Point
    Bluff Point Overlook

The high point where Keuka's Y splits — the view down both arms of the lake, no admission, a roadside pull-off on Skyline Drive. Best in the last hour before sunset when the light catches both arms at once. Gravel lot; drive slow past the vineyards below.
