The ruins of a once-thriving mill village on the Oconee River, dating to 1784 and home to one of Georgia's first paper mills in 1811 — a four-story textile mill once employed over 600 people here before an 1887 flood ended the town. A gentle hike through the Oconee National Forest reaches the mill foundations and an old arched bridge.
