A 110-mile loop circling the entire lake atop the 35-foot Herbert Hoover Dike, more than half of it paved — fully reopened in 2023 after the dike's $1.5 billion rehabilitation. Fourteen camping areas line the route, and the exposed, shadeless dike draws serious birdwatchers for cranes, spoonbills, and kites.
