Tucked in the Alpine Mall with a back deck that looks straight across Mirror Lake to Whiteface — the coffee-with-a-view stop, and the balcony is dog-friendly if you're walking the loop with one. Breakfast and lunch menu alongside the espresso program. Go for the deck, stay for the blend.
2577 Main Street — the Auburn brewery's Adirondack outpost, open weekdays 11 to 8. Hazy IPAs and a rotating tap list that changes often enough to be worth checking before you walk over. Smaller and less scene-y than the pub-and-brewery crowd a few blocks south.
31 Parkside Drive, south end of the lake — the only lifeguarded beach in town, with a sandy shore, a swim pier, tennis courts, and a canoe/kayak launch. Changing facilities and a playground make it the default family stop. Get there before 11 on a July Saturday or the close-in parking is gone.
A paved 2.7-mile path around the entire lake, flat enough for a stroller and popular enough that it functions as the town's Central Park. Forty-five minutes at an easy walk, less if you're running it before breakfast. Best light is early morning, before Main Street traffic picks up.
