Patios that put out a water bowl without being asked. Trails that don't require leashes when nobody's looking. Breweries with a yard. Beaches off-season.
The Tennessee Valley Authority's first hydroelectric project, built 1933–1936 on the Clinch River — a concrete gravity dam 1,860 feet long and 265 feet high, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The lake it created spans parts of five counties; the surrounding 4,000-acre state park covers boating, skiing, and fishing.
A 3,687-acre state park on the lake's south shore, about 25 miles north of Knoxville — a sandy public swimming beach, a seasonal boat dock, and a boat ramp just outside the park entrance.
