Conneaut Lake

Pennsylvania's largest natural lake. An amusement park since 1892.

Conneaut Lake Park has run since 1892, one of the oldest amusement parks in the country, on the shore of the largest natural lake entirely within Pennsylvania — four fires and three bankruptcies in, it's still turning the carousel.

About Conneaut Lake

Conneaut Lake is a 929-acre glacial lake in Crawford County, Pennsylvania — the state's largest natural lake, about twenty minutes from Meadville and forty-five from Erie. The commercial core sits on the south shore around Conneaut Lake Park and Water Street: Silver Shores Restaurant has served the waterfront since 1930, Conneaut Cellars Winery has poured since 1982, and Conneaut Lake Park itself has run continuously since 1892 under one name or another, surviving four fires and three bankruptcies to remain one of the oldest amusement parks in the country. It's a smaller, more limited operation now than its early-20th-century peak, and this guide says so rather than overselling it. Meadville carries the area's real infrastructure — the hospital, urgent care, and full-size grocery — a short drive from the lake itself.
