The Smallmouth Bass Capital of the World. 620 miles of shoreline.
Dale Hollow Lake is a 27,700-acre reservoir straddling the Tennessee-Kentucky border, dammed on the Obey River in 1943 — 620 miles of shoreline, fourteen marinas, and the world-record smallmouth bass, caught here in 1955 and still standing.
Dale Hollow Lake sits on the Tennessee-Kentucky border in the Upper Cumberland, a 27,700-acre reservoir created in 1943 when the Obey River was dammed near Celina. Fourteen marinas ring the shoreline across Celina, Monroe, Alpine, and Allons — Sunset Marina and Mitchell Creek Marina are the two largest, each with their own restaurant. The lake's real identity is fishing: known as the Smallmouth Bass Capital of the World, home to the 11-pound-15-ounce world record catch from 1955 that still stands. Livingston, the Overton County seat, covers the hospital about thirty minutes away.
