How long does it take to drive around Seneca Lake?
About two hours nonstop, 75 miles via Route 14 on the west shore and Route 414 on the east. Plan a full day if you're stopping at wineries — the wine-trail loop with a lunch stop and three tastings is closer to seven hours door-to-door.
Is parking a problem in Watkins Glen during summer?

Late September through mid-October — wineries are pouring the new vintage, the foliage is peak, and the summer crowds have gone. June is the second-best window. August is hot, crowded, and the wineries run their staff thin. Avoid early April and November — most operators are closed.
When does fall foliage peak on Seneca Lake?
Peak is the second and third week of October, with the south end (Hector, Burdett) coloring a week before the north (Geneva). The wine-trail drive between Lodi and Hector on Route 414 is the foliage move — narrow road, dropping hills, lake on your right going south.
